New pool owner here (vinyl, SWG) and so far water has been clear and no issues this season. Who knows what next year will bring but I’m curious to see if people buy supplies at the end of the season to stock pile for opening. Are there certain things that you 100% have to use each season? I’m sure this varies according to location, type of pool, and what issues arise come the spring. I’m seeing big markdowns on some pool chemicals so was wondering what folks do. Buy ahead knowing you’ll use them or just wait and see what you need?

I only need liquid chlorine in the spring but it will not last that well during the winter... Sometimes I do buy about 8 gallons to get me through to spring.. I do not cover my pool and because of the SWG I use LC during the winter.. :)

Liquid chlorine loses strength over time, so it doesn't do any good to stockpile over the winter. If you winterize your pool you may need a little CYA for opening or salt if you use an SWG.

I bought lots of calcium increaser, $1 a bag pool salt, floats, planters, grills, fertilizer and grass seed, patio umbrellas and bases, patio furniture, fire pits, low voltage lighting etc this time of year on big clearance. I gave away the test strips after learning about TFP 😅
