Pool Started 6/25/20 on a 20x40 Central PA

Some progress pics. Pool is running great. Very low maintenance. I love it! Still so much more to go but the work is getting easier. Turf is coming tomorrow for where I have the black layer which is a 7.5’x46’ area. I hope to finish the little paver area this week. Need to rent a saw. I plan on planting grass as soon as we start getting some rain. My wife will put some plants in the planters going up beside the stairs.
Many more details to go. The wall will get natural flagstone cap with undercap lights also whenever I get around to that. Hoping to do a fancy shed next year on the flat ground opposite of the house.

I installed Pavers and artificial turf in Sept. Still plenty to do but it is getting there. I will top the walls with flagstone treads and undercap lights in the spring and tidy it all up. Everything is frozen right now 😤

Pre and post Grass. One last thing to be happy about before winter arrived.

That looks fantastic! Question about the turf. On football fields, you see the black rubber pellets which keep the blade from matting down. Do you use those also? Do they pick up any on wet feet? I’ve always wondered about that. Again, awesome looking project!!

So I researched this a lot. The best thing I found to do is to use a cooling infill because any turf will get very hot on bare feet. I picked a very plush and soft turf that is 1.75” high. I used a little over .5lb of cooling infill per sq/ft. mixed with the same amount of filter sand. The material settles in and really isn’t that noticeable on your feet. The material holds water for 3-4 days. If you don’t get rain within that time, you can hose it down.

Thank you for that explanation. Very insightful for me.
