Pool stains look like rust

Water hardness is a measure of the dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water. Adding calcium will raise hardness.

The reason I ask about your fill water. If your fill water has high calcium, then it is better to start your CH low (200-250)...when your water evaporates and you add high calcium water, your CH will rise. When CH gets high, the only way to lower it is to exchange water.

Ok I’ve purchased some calcium increaser any suggestions how much to start adding and also for the ph Down . Also I’m guessing to add them separate days

Do not use pH down, use muriatic acid. pH down contains sulfites...no bueno for el poolo.

Download pool math and use it to calculate any additions. Link-->PoolMath

I have the pool calculator app will use with the Muraic acid, checking some notes the old owner used

Pool Mate 1-2550-04 Pool Metal Remover Pool Stain Remover, 1-Quart, 4-Pack

Once a week in the skimmer so I’m assuming he had stain issues also or
"Pink Stuff"

....aids in the prevention of metal stains & scale in new pools:

Use 2 Ounce per week

There is no point in using sequestrants day to day unless you know you have metal problems. Is your fill water from a well?

How old Is this plaster pool ?
The pool guy is probably correct. The discolorations or stains appear to be in the plaster itself and aren't likely to be removed by adding stain removal products.
At this point, keep the water balanced. Did you raise the calcium hardness to 250 ppm as instructed?
