Pool Side Spa Water Level Dropping

My pool side spa is losing water to the pool. The water level in the spa slowly drops while the water is diverted to the pool. Pumping the water manually from the pool back to the spa normalizes the water level in the pool but the water will slowly be diverted back to the pool. At first I thought I had a leak but the water level in the pool raises above the skimmers.

What could be happening?

A picture of your valve setup at the equipment area will help. Since the spa and pool are same level there probably no need for a check valve, so one of the control valves may be out of position during normal circulation

As Kadavis points out, the most likely cause is a leaking or out of position Intake (suction) valve. This would be the valve right in front of the pump that allows you to select between Pool and Spa suction.

The valves for the spa are electronically controlled. Is it possible for them to get out of alignment? If so, how do I adjust them?

This has happened a couple times in the past and resolved itself but never gotten to the point where the spa is almost entirely empty.

I'm filling pumping water back into the spa now. Will check the valves and see if I can resolve the issue by adjusting them.

The actuator that turns the valves can go bad... When it does, they almost always have some intermittent operation first before failing completely..

The manual for what looks like a Jandy motorized actuator is here —> https://www.jandy.com/~/media/zodiac/global/downloads/h/h0570800.pdf?force=1. Look at pages 7-9.

It looks like the motorized valve for your return is set cocked with about 75% flow to pool and 25% to spa. Do you get flow to your spa return when in pool mode and when the spa drains?

I cannot see the position of the handle on your suction motorized valve.

You may want to open up the motorized valves and check the condition of the diverters.

The suction side diverter was replaced and all is back to normal. Thanks for everyone's help.

ajw22 - Yes, you're correct, there is light flow into the spa when the pool is on.
