A neighbor tells me their pool service "tests" their pool by squirting reagents directly into the pool and eyeballing the color. This of course sounds super sketchy, but has anyone heard of this being a common practice as a sort of go/nogo test?
Using OTO like this isn't that crazy for very very vague idea. Trying to color match either test against a pool color that is different for every pool is a joke though, you're not getting an actual reading.
It's a "quantity over quality" measure to get them there and gone fast. Unfortunately pool services have a well earned poor reputation here. There's some great and knowledgeable techs out there but they're all paid to be quick, not thorough.
