How much should a 40lb bag of salt raise the Salt Level on a 17,500 gallon pool
I only went from 2600 to 2800. Is that right?

its close depending on how u tested- strips can be off +-500 ppm

SWGs are notorious for inaccurate salt readings. While you might have a shot at seeing 2600 go to 2800, you can't rely on the original 2600. You should be using a proper test kit to determine the actual amount of salt in your pool. This is the one we recommend:
