Pool Return Line Fitting Fell Off.....

I noticed two plastic parts on the bottom of my pool and fished them out. I thought maybe they fell off of the sweeper.
That was month ago, now I just noticed that they fell off of the return line to the pool.
I've attached pictures.

I haven't tried to re-attach them yet, buy I'm wondering if these are just cosmetic or is harm being done with it not in place?
The collar piece is threaded.

It is nice to have that in place as it really helps control the flow of the water to help keep it circulated and flowing towards the skimmer.

Thanks kimkats! I will be re-installing it, just wasn't sure if I had a bigger issue with it not being on.

Is the opening in the wall threaded? Doesn't look like there is a pipe sticking out enough to screw the fitting on.

Hi zea3, I'm guessing the wall is threaded. I will find out when I re-attach it. I'll try tomorrow if I don't have to get into the pool. LOL
