Pool remodel in Houston

Hello Everyone,

After the Arctic blast in February, we had some damage to our pool tiles. And as the pool is probably 20 years old we thought it was time to do some updating. Does anyone have thoughts on the Aquabella Italian Slate tiles. They dont have the glossy finish that other porcelain tiles do, so does that mean they are harder to keep clean?

We are keeping the red flagstone coping and updating the tile and plaster and were thinking of this slate tile. Since we have a large feature wall would something like the attached IS-634 San Marino be a good choice for the wall and waterline? they also have some deco tiles for occasional details.

That tile you have now has efflorescence- water is getting behind the tiles and pushing out of the grout which brings along the salts and calcium. A little diluted (4:1) Muriatic Acid to water solution may help you get rid of that on the tiles.

That wall may need to be opened up and have the insides assessed for leaks in your water feature, or missing waterproofing of the wall. If you don't fix this your new tile may very well have the same problem develop down the line.

The chosen tiles are very pretty. :)

The water behind them isnt a problem anymore, during the freeze, it expanded and popped a bunch of them off, thus the reason to update.
