Pool Pump Replacement Suggestion

My pump has gone guts up and needs to be replaced. See the attached picture of the label on the pump that's needing to be replaced. Also, I've been reading the forums about mfgs. not warranting pumps installed by homeowners, so before I purchase a new one, I'd like to get some feedback on homeowner installs.

Also, are the variable speed pumps worth the additional cost?

Is this a Hayward Super II pump? You can probably replace just the motor with a V-Green 165 (requires 220VAC). Over the life of the pump you should see significant savings, see article How Much Does My Pool Pump Cost to Run? for more details.
