Pool party and kid pooped ?

Following a pool party this afternoon my daughter finds a big turd in our deep end (we have black pebble so who knows how many hours it was in there!!!). We have brought the FC up to shock level but I have a few questions:
1. how long do the levels need to remain at shock level?
2. how long do I need to run filter pump?
3. So I have to clean my filters in the filter pump?
4. I have a dolphin m500 and I thought I read you shouldn't use it with FC levels above 4 (or something like that)....so does that mean I can't vacuum until levels drop way back down?

any other tips?? So gross!!!!!

thanks!!

Gross!

Since pool party I'm assuming unrelated kids so main concern is crypto.

The CDC levels to combat crypto are so far above SLAM levels it is impossible to achieve in our pools containing cya. So I guess you just have to hope those are not present.

For the rest that cdc link calls for 2ppm with no cya for 30 minutes. That's much higher than slam levels. So alternatively the suggestion to slam for much longer sounds good. I'd say at least overnight.

Are you sure? The CDC says otherwise.

"You can pass Crypto in your stool and contaminate water for several weeks after your symptoms have ended."

By no means am I an expert in this field, but if this was the case, the CDC would shut down literally every public pool in the United States every month. The pools would have to be closed for weeks at a time. Public pools are just out right disgusting!

Just because pools have CYA, that does not mean that the FC that binds and unbinds throughout the process is not taking care of business. Only about 1%-2% of the FC is used to kill pathogens. I have a link somewhere from "Chem Geek" and will try to find.

I can’t claim to know anything about this, but do you think you’ve never been in a pool where there’s poop?

CDC = government.
Government has outlandish requirements to merely cover their hind-ends. If you can’t reach their suggested levels, then you can’t sue them when something else goes wrong and try to attribute to their advice.
