Pool overflow install doesn’t seem right

My PB installed the pipe where the water drains from the overflow. Does this seem right? The pipe he installed just goes straight out with holes in it. He told me to just put rocks around and it’ll be fine. The pipe is lower than the surrounding ground so I feel like this will just puddle up and make a huge mess.

Don’t most overflow pipes elbow up with a grate on top? Also, would I be better off to install a pop up drain at the end? Thanks for the help.

K,

An overflow should b connected into a deck drain, or piped so that water flows to the free air. The end of the pipe should not buried under ground, unless there is a dry well filled with rocks..

Thanks,

Jim R.
