Here's my data from my TFP pool app for your review - it rained last night so my FC dropped to near zero and my TA/PH increased - I added chems this morning and just did a quick test strip and I've got about 1-2ppm FC and 7.6 PH at present - and TA looks to be down as well - I will retest using the TFP Pro kit later this afternoon and post updated results. Redid my CYA test late morning and I've got about 30ppm CYA after adding two gallons to the pool yesterday. What level of CYA should I aim for? My CH went from 200 down to about 175 overnight due to the rain apparently. What is the recommended CH level from TFP? After my 30 day new plaster curing window comes to a close - I will light up my SWCG system that is already plumbed in just not powered on.

For now leave it there. You can't add salt or turn on the SWG for 30 days, so you will chlorinate as a non-salt pool. Important - keep the FC balanced per the FC/CYA Levels. The last thing you want with new plaster is algae. Keep the FC somewhere between 4-7 ppm and you should be fine.

Ideally starting about 350. In established pools we could go as low as 250, but with new plaster, I would get the CH up close to about 350 to ensure the water doesn't try to pull calcium out of the plaster/shell.

Got it - I've got 45 lbs of CH Plus ready to go - I'll start upping the CH levels this evening and bring it up to 350ppm over the next few days.

Updated TFP app history for chems below. I added 10lbs of CH increaser and went from 175ppm yesterday morning to 275ppm this afternoon. I'll add another dose later today to attempt to bring it up to around 350 as recommended. PH/TA both rose a bit overnight - so I added about 48oz of liquid MA and another gallon of 12.5% liquid chlorine this afternoon. I also added a gallon of CYA yesterday and it's now up to 40ppm - so I think I'm good on CYA levels at least until I switch over to my SWCG early August timeframe. I'm now tracking against CSI as well as I've got a thermometer in the pool as of two days ago. Does CH increaser typically increase TA/PH and decrease Chlorine? That's what I observed over the past 24 hours.

Most recent chems below since last post. I did a SLAM yesterday since I've been fighting low chlorine levels pretty much since open. Test results this morning show 12.5FC after the slam yesterday afternoon. Do I just let it come down gradually over time? Seems like PH/TA/CH are right where they need to be this morning - perhaps PH is a bit high - but not enough for me to adjust just yet. Should I consider raising CH beyond 350 for any reason? CSI looks good as well. Water temp has fluctuated slightly in the low 80's depending on weather for the past several days - seems fairly steady in this range so far though. Anything else I should be paying more attention to or adjusting?

Updated numbers after converting over to the SWCG generator late last week. The salt calculations were wrong - my pool must not be a 25000 gallon pool - it's smaller than that - as I added 600 lbs of salt which put my pool at 4600ppm so I had to dilute the pool down to 3600-3700ppm which is what it's currently sitting at. The Calimar SWCG states the ideal is 3400ppm with an "OK" range from 3000-4000ppm. So, I'm within the acceptable range now. I've got the Calimar unit set at 25% and I've been at 7.5ppm for chlorine with 50ppm cyuranic acid for going on three days now - is this OK? I know I need to raise cyuranic acid up a bit - that's on the to-do list already - around 80ppm? Still having issues with PH that rises consistently so I keep having to use PH down powder to bring it down to 7.4-7.6 once a week at least. Any words of wisdom or constructive comments would be most appreciated.

In your location I suspect that is fine. When you increase it next year, go no higher than 70.

Try to avoid using dry acid if you can (sulfates not good) and stick to liquid muriatic acid.

Good to know - I was only using liquid muriatic acid up until recently - didn't realize there was a sulfates issue with the powder. What exactly is the issue with sulfates? Does it contribute to TDS for example?
