Hi. I'm in my fourth year of opening my pool and this year for the first time ever my water is actually clear under the cover. Do I still need to SLAM or since things are pretty clean is there another process I should do?

Some good test results would help determine that. An OCLT will tell for sure if nothing is obviously wrong.
What a wonderful question to get to ask! I would do a OCLT and see what it says. Of course it would not hurt anything to bring your FC to just under SLAM level for your CYA if it makes you feel better. That way you can still swim if you want.
