Pool opening 2024

Thank u. I appreciate ur searching for me. But our backyard is too small to construct something like that If u look back at text # 204 from
June 20 it show a pic of a reel that fits on top of the pool. That is what would he more conducive for our setup 1719750359364.png

I would personally cut the cover into smaller easier to manage pieces. Clamp reels probably need somewhat frequent adjustments due to the force they're under and I wouldn't like bolt ons either because they only last a few years and you KNOW the bolt patterns will change by next time. Lol.

By the way what percentage is this item. I cannot find it on label
I believe any manufacturer who hides the strength waters it down, otherwise they'd be bragging about how strong it is.

You'll have to road test it amd see how it behaves for you. If it doesn't do what it was supposed to do by poolmath, lower the strength next time.

Ace hardware has transchem MA that's full strength (31.45%) for $10 by us.

I saw the Acid Magic in Ace and turned away from it, even though I would prefer a quart over a gallon. I couldn’t find the strength listed then it said it’s muriatic acid-based. That leads me to believe there’s other stuff there we may not necessarily want.

Their MSDS lists MA and lactic acid. We believe they use surfactants to suppress some odors but it's not like adding splashless bleach where it's an everyday thing so the levels likely won't ever reach where things get foamy.

Members have been using it for years without issue. YMMV of course. :)

Please look at my results. My FC has stayedhigh since i added a bit of bleach last nite. It is 9.5 since my solar cover has been on since sunday nite. I guess thats ok and i will not add any bleach tonite. As for my pH after adding the acid magic last night that small amount it worked wonderfully and my pH is definitely 7.5 now. My TA is 80 but it started to turn ever si slightly reddish at 7 drops(70). And my CYA is most definitely if not 30 it us extremely close. Definitely not 40 anymore. What is your suggestion for my TA if is was 70?? And when should i add stabilizer for CYA since i really think it is 30. Thank u for the help

I checked pool math again. I am leaving FC alone tonite. I am also leaving TA alone even if it is real close to 70( what do u think). And I am adding CYA stabilizer in sock. Suggested amount was 29 oz. I am doing 24 oz. ??? If my TA goes truly to 70 i guess as pool math says i will need to add some baking soda which i gave bags of when i used to do my pool all wrong. About my CYA. I glance at the bottom of that tube and to be truly honest I see ever so slightly the black dot. Really slightly. So it might be lower?? When u guys do it do u see a really faint black circle or really just a gray liquid?? I do not stare at it but i want to be real efficient

Also i bought this for when i fill up the pool so that i am only filling it with filtered water. But now the black charcoal is leaking out. Is it necessary to buy a new one or in the future just use hose water without the filter attached??

My acid magic used last night only about 12 oz lowered my pH nicely back to a clearly read 7.5 from about an 8. So it is working fine

Just a fast glance and call it. I go with barely seeing it as the instructions say. Pass an OCLT and raise it 10 after.

They don't do what they claim. Skip it from now on.

Well then, there ya go. :) Carry on or buy the cheaper stuff at Ace next time.

Thank u again for all the support. It really helps clear my brain. It is hard enough to care for the pool on a daily basis but to have u people have my back and answer my frustrating questions makes ut so much better. Thank u

We got you old friend. :)

And I love love LOVE the 7 to 9.5 FC. While it may be a little more than you need, it costs peanuts and will ensure we are never going to discuss how to clear your swamp.

Don't get me wrong, we love to help folks. But we'd SO rather see pictures of people remarking how clear they can see their feet while enjoying the pool instead of clearing it.

Hello people. I just came home from work and tested some #s. FC good at 7. pH ok at 7.8. But TA is only 80. Is this ok. The sheet says for manually chlorinated pools that good readings are between 100 to 120?? What r u thoughts. Tomorrow i will take solar cover off during the day and put back at night. It has been on for 2 days straight. Kind of confused. On pool math it says 60 to 80 is ideal. And 50 to 90 is recommended. Yet the TF testkits instruction sheet says good readings are between 100 to 120?? View attachment 584549
Hello sir. I have read through 9 of the 12 pages and it's interesting, and love reading about your progress! I'm taking mine over currently as well for the first time in 9 years. A few thoughts for you:

Reading about your questions about the heat pump, if you run your pump during the day and utilize the solar cover, you should be able to keep it warmer. And I'd think replacing your gas heater is better as it will operate MUCH cheaper than electric heat pumps.
Per the leaves problem, do you have a surface skimmer like the Betta SE (you can find on Amazon, etc). That might save you a lot of trouble.

Best of luck!

The leaves are better now that the trees are healthier this time of year. But in the beginning any wind just blew the leaves off and into the pool. I use my skimmer net. Both large and small but its work😊then i brush and robot vacuum and sometimes on top i will manually vacuum. But it all takes time. With my robot i actually stick the skimmer rod in and push the robot to the ditty areas more often and that helps. But all time consuming

Is this something that is beneficial or just use the vacuuming the way i have been doing it? With this i would not need to backwash that often since the filter would not be absorbing the dirt?? Any ideas
