Pool Math........The App

Nice work guys, I've been a software engineer for 16 years, never done a mobile app, but I certainly appreciate the hard work that has gone into these apps!!! Thank You! Also I'd second the request for graph's in landscape mode.

I thank you all for your positive words. Bad news though, were not even close to being where we want to be. We've got a list compiled from your requests that we've still gotta add. I'm tickled greatly that the first round is as accepted as it has been, but there's more in our heads.

I really really wanna apologize to the users who have had some issues with the errors that have showed up in this launch. We are correcting them before we move onto the next set of upgrades to make sure others don't have the same issues. We thank each of you who emailed us for support and worked with us to fix your problems. Hopefully all is well with your account now. If not, let us know!

Last off, thank each of you who left a review in the App stores. Your comments and ratings are a major factor in the ranking on the App Store. To those who haven't posted in the store, please do so. Your words are more help than you know!

Congratulations on the launch! Super excited and downloaded the first day. I already subscribed. This makes testing and adding chemicals at poolside so much easier!

Two suggestions for the app:
  1. The preview from post #3 had better visual appeal. I liked the look of the color background for the log results. It would be really awesome if the background of each log result matched the corresponding color section from the Taylor test kits (i.e. Free Chlorine should be based in a yellow instead of purple). Thoughts?
  2. I tinkered with the app for a little bit of time before subscribing. While it is useful to be able to see what chemicals to add, it seems to me that it is not as useful as the online Pool Math calculator. The online version shows all your test results entered. In the iOS app, the test numbers don't show on the overview page; only in the Free Chlorine Calculator, pH Calculator, etc. While I understand that logs are a subscription feature, it would be nice if non-subscribers could see all their current test numbers on the overview page (like the free online calculator does). Then it will be clear that all results are being factored into each recommendation. This would give them a better introduction to the community. Thoughts?

Regardless, I love it! Heading to iTunes to give my 5-stars.

Thanks for all you do!
Stuart

So does this app cost $ or no? I went to the App Store and it says free but also shows that there is an in app purchase for one year subscription $7.99. Is there a free version and a more advanced paid version?

The free version just gives you access to the main Overview screen without any ability to log data and retain a history. So it works a lot like the basic PoolMath webpage screen.

The in-app purchase is for a $7.99 annual subscription and that gives you the ability to record and log data over time. Also, when more advanced charting features are released, those will be behind the subscription wall.

I posted this to the G+ community, but was hoping for those of us in the north east who have a limited window of usually june to september for pool usage, that we could purchase a pro-rated amount for that valid time period. also maybe a lifetime pass only offered for the first year is a good way to help boost sales and usage initially

A feature i'd love to see is this:
(1) Determining approximate FC loss based on logs (step 1)
(2) Step 2 would be doing the same, but factoring in weather conditions
(3) Step 3 would be future predictions based on upcoming weather conditions

this way one would know "on day X you need to add more bleach as anticipated" - and of course adjusted by your measurements entered.

the app is free.
$7.99 a year for the convenience of being able to save logs is a tiny amount. But you dont need to pay to use the main feature.

Its amusing to me that its perceived to not be worth $0.66 a month ( or $2.00 a month up north ) but its good enough to request additional features ...

How do you import data into the app? I exported the data from the beta test onto icloud. I went in and hit the log button, went through and paid for the subscription, but cannot restore existing.

I'm also, trying to log new data and it asks me to subscribe / restore existing. If, I buy I get a message that I'm already subscribed or if I want to extend subscription.

Click on the file that you exported from the beta version and then it will let you import it into the new app. I emailed the beta version export to myself and opened the email, then clicked on the file and it asked me what I want to use to import it. I clicked on Pool Math and it was all there.

Check out post #660 about the subscription issue. Some iOS users are reporting this problem. Post 660 gives instructions for providing developer what they need to fix this for you.

Uninstalled/deleted the beta version on my Android. Downloaded and installed latest one from google store. All I get is a blue circle chasing it's tail. Won't launch the app! Done that twice now.

I purchased the Pool Math app for my iPad, and it was great for a few days, then suddenly I can no longer sign in.

In a nutshell, I downloaded and purchased the in app logging option.
Signed in using a G+ account
Started logging data for a few days
subsequently signed up to this forum
Now I can no longer sign in to the Pool Math app using either my G+ account nor my TFP account credentials
i thought maybe I should start over, so I deleted the app and my data, reinstalled from the app store
Still cannot log in.

Any ideas as to why this might be?

Thanks in advance!
Karl

EDIT: Happy to report, the problem was the Google Account being used to sign in with, and NOT the Pool Math App.
