Pool Math - Question

Hi... when using the website pool math tool with my latest test results it recommends 96 ozs acid to take my PH from 8.0 to 7.7. However, when I use the lower section to check the "effect" of adding 96 ozs acid it indicates PH will drop by .98 (see screenshot attached). It seems inconsistent though maybe it's because my borates are high at 80 (another story - I added too much boric acid ). Any guidance from the experts is appreciated!

Thanks!!

Read the Note below Effects of Adding Chemicals. ---

Your Borate level is really influencing the calculation.

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate the knowledge from everyone on this site. Whenever my water gets out of whack I'm always able to get back on track by reading these forums. In this case I will simply add my acid in smaller doses to make sure I don't generate big swings in PH. And unless there are issues with the high borates (other than kids or animals drinking the water which is not a risk for us), I plan to let it naturally decrease over time. If there's anything else I should be aware of please let me know!
