Pool math applied to very small spa?

Hi. I have had my spa a couple months really trying to use the numbers in Pool math. For the first two weeks I followe the advice of the spa guy that told me “just dump a capful of dichlor in every Sunday” I had astronomical CYA numbers but since have drained and refilled half the spa to get 40 CYA but I just cannot keep any FC in my spa

It’s a “three person” spa if you really love that third person. Just over 200 gallons.

I can post my test numbers later but I did get a Taylor kit and my cya is right around 40 (that little black dot seems like kind of a subjective test)

When I add the recommended amount of chlorine via bleach according to pool math I end up with no FC in the water after a few hours and it turns cloudy and sometimes foams up. The next day. When I use a ton of bleach 4-8 oz at night, the water clears up but there is still 0 FC in the morning.

Is it possible that in a tub so small, the ozone is just destroying the chlorine too fast? It seems really unstable.

Ph 7.4
CYA 40
FC 0

What specific bleach are you using?

Chlorox bleach 6%. I am entering this in pool math. It doesn’t matter how much bleach I am adding as I’ve added as much as 16 oz before, my FC is always zero by morning

Thought so! It is the Clorox bleach that is creating the foaming. If you look at the label someplace its says it contains Cloromax Technology. That is a fancy name for polymers they add to the bleach and should not go in a pool or spa. Find yourself true unadulterated pure bleach.

Also be aware that nearly all Clorox bleach has additives. Called Cloromax. It makes your water foam up.

Not being able to hold FC iplies nasties in the pipes. Good job on ordering the Ahh-some. A rep from the company posts on the forum so any questions just ask and we can PM them

Sure. Look at the Julian date. 18xxx. Be aware that HD tends to store liquid chlorine outdoors in the sun. Summer is pretty tough on it.

Just got a chance to run the Ahhsome. Draining it right now. Do I run another Ahh-Some cycle or just fill it up with clean water, run it and drain it?
