Is there a "free" AND "paid" app or just free and pay to get unlimited logs? I've tried the app off and on (free) and can never get it to overwrite a log. I enter new values and it just defaults to 4 months ago. Needs to be an "edit" button. Back to Pool Logger I guess.

There is free, and subscription. Subscription allows users to save test data, chemical additions, and track pool maintenance. For $8 per YEAR, it's cheap, and supports the site staying online.
There's only one at the Playstore, with only a 3.3 rating, probably because without subscribing it seems useless. I can't edit a 4 month old log or overwrite it without the subscribe pop-up.

Its the same app and you subscribe inside the app. I went for 2 years without needing the logs and only using the parameter pop ups for each individual value. But for tracking, I mean. Cmon. It's $8 a year and the app gives us so much back. Not necessarily in paid features, but in general.

I'd pay the $8 if it was a better app (more similar to Orenda, which I don't use). I finally figured out how to edit the log! You have to move to timeline tab and click a value there. Why can't you do this from the Overview tab? I'll keep trying it.

It used to automatically replace your old log with your new one if you didn’t have a subscription. That appears to have changed some time back.
The only way to edit a log is via the timeline menu because that is the log list. Each overview card is simply a calculator.

At any rate- multiple logs and multiple pools aside- the other functions (calculations on overview and effects of adding, recommendations) function exactly the same subscription or no.
Ideally though, for it to function as fully intended a subscription is best so you can first log your results and then in the overview those latest results are automatically filled in as your “current” value. You can then adjust each parameter via the overview cards & log those additions as needed, then start the process over again the next time you test.
Your logs will then show a truer picture of what is happening with your pool as results and additions along with any notes will be there in chronological order telling a story.
I especially appreciate that when opening and closing for instance. I can look back at what my parameters were when I closed months ago and scroll back to see when I opened last year etc. or how often I backwashed or adjusted my swg at certain points in the season.

how is the CSI calculated if the new app cannot store any value (like it used to do)
I decided the app sucks unless you pay annually. I just use the browser version.

Or if I feel like keeping logs I use "Pool Logger".

Both give CSI results.

Fixed it for you.

I like your opinion in most threads. I feel you really wanted to word this differently. Excuse me if I presumed wrong. ;)
I was just looking a robot thread, so I guess "sucks" was on my mind. But, yes, for me it's way too much work to make one entry.

You can do this by clicking the csi card in the overview and changing each parameter manually.
It is just a calculator- those features don’t change.
The values just aren’t automatically adjusted based upon your logs because there aren’t any.

I notice if you change it there it doesn't stick. If you change it from the timeline tab, it sticks and recalculates.

Correct- the only way to make it “stick” as you put it is to log it which must be done by editing your 1 free log if you don’t have a subscription.
