Pool lighting idea...

Hey all

I'm struggling to find a good strong light for my 30x15 AGP. From what I can tell, nothing comes close to a real through-the-wall light, which is not really an option for me at this time.
But, crazy idea, has anyone ever installed a light meant for in-ground applications, into the steps/ladder of their AGP?

I'm thinking if I can find steps with risers high enough, it shouldn't be much different than a regular in-ground pool light.
If not, what are you guys using to get serious lighting in your AGP?

We're using the Intex Magnetic Wall Light and it's working great :)

Intex lights are usually two piece, one side that goes inside the pool and the power side behind it, joined by magnetism with the Intex layer in between. Power is supplied to the inside piece via induction, which would not work with a steel wall pool as far as I can tell, unless i'm missing something.
Interesting. I assumed it was just a watertight housing with a few D-cells in it that hung on with a magnet. I learned something new!

Not sure if this is what you are after but it works great and the return actually improves the circulation...

Seems like those are the most popular option. I'm going to try the one that hangs over the side wall of the pool, under the rail. I read that somebody put a higher wattage bulb in it and it worked better. If that doesn't work I'll probably go for the return light.

Have you looked into running waterproof low voltage LED strip lights around the pool underneath the top caps? I have done some research on this and seems to work very well.
This is what I'll be doing once the water warms up and I can get in the pool. I bought some clear-ish PEX (used in home plumbing) to be overly cautious. I will run this under the top rail of the pool all the way around and then slide the LED strip lights through.

That's an option I thought of, but for the pool to really light up enough for night swimming, I sort of feel like the light has to be IN the water. Otherwise you get a lot of reflection off the surface. I may do that anyway just for some nice accent lighting. This is my first year with a pool and I have a lot of playing around to do!

We bought this Aqualuminator light on ebay 7 years ago, our light still works and the only trouble we had was when my husband was turning it to adjust the water flow we ripped our liner, but saw it immediately and patched so its fine.
We must have gotten a good one, 7 years ago!
You don't see things last that long anymore!

I have the Aqualuminator and love it. Lights up the whole pool. Really throws the water along the side of the pool creating great circulation.
What size pool do you have..? I have a 15x24 semi in ground. I was looking at the aquailluminator and was worried that it would restrict flow. Is it halogen or led and can the bulb be replaced.? How long is the cord if you want to run the plug to the equipment slab?
Thanks

Sorry for delayed reply, we been swimming, haha
Our pool is 33ft round, we also use the return to give the pool more circulation as you can direct it. also, there is a fountain attachment that works really well the kids love it.
our return is very near the other equipment so the cord reached, I think its about 10ft.
