I have a 16 x 32 foot pool with light installed about 23 years ago. We are on our third vinyl liner.
When the salesman came for quote I mentioned I wanted to replace the light he quoted 500 dollars
The day they came to replace the liner I mentioned to the crew that I ordered a light to be replaced.
They knew nothing about it but called office and told me they would order one. When they left they took my old light. Long story short the owner called days later and told me it was a difficult and that the old light was hard to find. They came put in a new light that fit in the conduit and said, " you need an electrician." They (the pool company did the wiring, by this I mean the basic wiring already existed.)
Electrician came out today he checked a few things. Breaker kept being tripped he fixed that
but light still did not work. We pulled light out and then found some funky looking screw attachment .
Me the electrician and the apprentice could not figure out how it attached and kept the light in conduit.
So I have a light they installed that does not work and some funky jury rigged new light assembly I have no idea how it works.
I have 500 I have not payed them yet am I not right to hold their feet to the fire until my light is running with an acceptable removing and reattaching mechanism? I have always opened and closed my own pool. Pictures attached. Thanks for thoughts and replies. By the way why didn't I find this site years ago.

Hard to tell from the picture can we get a better one and the model number of the light if you have it? My guess without being able to see well, is many lights have a tab or retaining clip on one one side that holds the light in the niche and a screw on opposite side that you screw in from the pool. To remove the light you remove the screw and the light tips out via the tab like a hinge.

I certainly would not make payment in full until they prove light works and show you how it installs.

Yes the pool light I had was held in place by a header screw onto a tab in the niche. This light is a STA-RITE
Sunlite LTC. I can give you a picture of the mechanism they used to hold the light in.IMG_0702.jpgI drove to the shop today and they are coming out tomorrow.
I always find a polite face to face is more effective then a call.

Sorry hope someone else will reply that does not look like anything I could find in STA-Rite manual. It has to be some sort of anchor that goes in the niche and then the light bolts to it but I have no idea how, hopefully the liner company will know and make it right.
