I just ordered the Bestway Power Steel 13.91' x 8.2' x 39.5" Oval Frame pool from Walmart for my kids. I am expecting delivery by May 5th and hoping to have it setup and running by my daughter's birthday on May 8 to keep them busy and happy during the COVID quarantine period.

The description says that it will have 1,900 gallons of water at 90%

I will be putting it on my synthetic lawn. It is leveled and ready to go but just have a few question.

1. I do not want the pool to damage the lawn so I am thinking of using a 2 x 10 board or paver stone on each foot. I will not be able to dig to make the base level to the ground. Will raising the foot 2 inches higher from the ground cause an issue with the frame? I have seen some youtube video where they sometime stack base to make all the foot level but I want to hear from actual users who have done it.

2. After filling it with water, what is the first thing I should do to get started and make sure that the water is properly sanitized? Or what do you do the first time you fill the pool with water?

3. What do I need to do to keep the water clean?

Thank you.

1. I don't know about that as I always dig mine in.
2. After I fill, I test my water. I have the Taylor K2006 test kit. I go to pool math (at the bottom of the page) and plug in my numbers and add chemicals accordingly. I add stabilizer (CYA) and liquid chlorine first. I have an swg, so I start throwing salt in. I usually add salt over a 2 day period since I don't want it sitting on the bottom of my pool and it's just easier for me that way. On the 3rd day, I turn on my swg. I test everyday at first until I make sure my FC is staying where it needs to be. Then I test every few days. This year I had to add some borax as well to raise my Ph a bit.
3. To keep it clean you need to keep your water chemistry where it needs to be. Test, keep FC at the proper level according to CYA/FC chart. Read through pool school if you haven't.
Congratulations on your new pool!

thought: is your lawn held down with metal staples? could they be a danger to the pool?
a 2 inch difference between supports and bottom of pool is probably not a big deal, but you might think about some kind of foam bottom to give it a slight lift. also be careful of placement if the pavers are above ground level - they can cut the liner/

The 2 inches should not be a problem as long as the ground is level. Under my pool, I put a layer of foam (foam puzzle mats). Would highly recommend that, so you get a nice soft bottom. If you add that under the pool itself, that will also take some off the 2 inches.

Hi Pv2,

The lawn is held down by 6 inch nails but it also have sand filler on it so I don't think the nail will come out and be a danger, I will let you know if that is not the case. Pool delivery was delayed, it is still waiting in transit. Hope it arrive by tomorrow so we can set it up in time for my daughter's birthday on Friday :).

So, lifting all the foot 2 inches higher will not cause the frame to bow down? Does the pool liner have some slack for this? If that is not an issue then that will also help lifting the pool height by 2 inches.

Thanks.
