Pool has scale

Following this - we have a new pool that has scale as well PH has been low, but by following the TFP and keeping CSI low, it should dissolve? It's probably too early for calcium buildup for us, as it's only 2 months old!

The test results you show in your Poolmath logs do not support you having scale.

How are you testing your pool water chemistry?

I either take it into the pool store or the strips. I've ordered the testing kit recommended here and will test with it on Friday. The levels have been pretty spot on - keeping PH low. I think it's may be because I put baking soda directly into the pool without dilluting it in water first... Could that cause this? If so, how do I fix?

Baking soda did not cause this, unless your CH is triple what you report and TA is far higher.

Get your kit, run the tests, post them here.

It is near impossible to have a pH of 7 and TA of 120. Plan to delete those test results you show in Poolmath.

This is what I received from my pool place. I’m going to manually test the calcium level with my kit to verify. Any ideas?

Great. How did you measure the TA and CYA. Neither can be tested to the resolution you show.

You need to add chlorine and CYA. See What Are My Ideal Pool Levels?

Your water test results do not show it to be in a scaling condition. So maintain pH in the 7’s and let TA come down to 60 or 70 ppm and the scale should go away with brushing.

TA is 100. Just verified with the kit. CUA is closer to 40 by the kit…

Perfect. Should I add muratic acid to help it come down?

As you manage the pH, the TA will lower.
