Pool grounding wire question

Hi and thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide!

I know that there is a grounding wire that runs around the pool but I noticed today that one end of it is not connected to anything but it seems to end just beside the metal framework for our automatic pool cover. Am I supposed to attach it to the metal of the pool cover or do you think there is another specific location to connect this piece?

And then on the other side, where might I look for the other end to make sure it is grounded? Would it be at/near the electrical panel for the pool or elsewhere?

New pool owner here so any tips regarding things I should check and/or fix about this wire would be appreciated!

Welcome to TFP.

That is a bonding wire, not a grounding wire and it should not be grounded at any point.

Yes, the bonding wire should be connected to the cover metal and all other parts as specified in NEC 680.26
