My pool done went crazy on me. I have had it 10 years with no issues. I replaced the heater with the same model and brand because I killed the last one due to water balance. I just checked the chemicals and they are all in a good range. The last two times I pulled my filter to clean it, it looked like the image. Is something affecting the heat exchanger even though my pH and chlorine are in a good position?

What chemicals have you added to the pool? Blue staining is usually the result of copper in your water, typically added by algaecides. This is one reason we don't recommend their use.

Yeah, let me get the results for you. I noticed it first last Monday when some kids hair had a blue tint to it 
. Since then I have put some algaecide and chlorine pucks in the dispenser that floats around. I wi ll check the algaecide brand to see if it has copper.

When did you replace the heater? If recently, that could just be the remains of your last heat exchanger. If it wasn't that recent, then that may well be your new heater quickly disintegrating. I've seen it before and it doesn't take long...

It's definitely copper, which can be from the old destroyed heat exchanger or copper algaecide.
I replaced it 3 weeks ago but didn't notice any difference until 2 weeks after. I regularly clean my filter so I would have noticed if it was the old heater, I think. I am hoping it is the algaecide that is 3.3% copper and not the new heater.
I hope you are right, but that is a lot of blue to chalk up to algaecide.
How are you testing your water? Most especially your pH and TA? The person I know who lost their heater was using test strips and they were telling her the pH and TA were fine when they had crashed.

I ordered a new test system that is not the test strips. It should be here today.
