Pool Filter Size

I have a 22 by 40 above ground pool. oval. running filter 24/7 cartridge filter. to fight algee always.
have Pentair P/n 160316 with 1.5hp pump cc100

Pool store keep saying the pool is too big and should add a second filter for easy maintenance.

Filters do not fight algae. Chlorine fights algae. If you have algae problems it is a water chemistry problem not a filtering problem. Your pool store does not understand the ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry which I suggest you read.

While a 100 sqft filter isn't optimum for a 23,000 gallon pool, as Allen said, That isn't your problem if you're having an algae issue.

I had a 19" sand filter with a 1hp pump on my 12' Intex bubble top pool, the water still got cloudy.
I found TFP, did a ton of reading and rereading, got a test kit, now my water is picture perfect, almost boring to maintain.
