Pool equipment installer says heaters never need bypass valve

I had the Pentair ultratemp HP and not knowing any better I hand trucked it in and out for 8 seasons. I hooked up my leaf blower to it to blow it out and tilted/shook it while tilted to drain the rest. It was top heavy on the hand truck and needed to be wheeled at a steep angle to not flip off the hand truck.

*not a recommendation to do what I did if it’s harmful. Just stating that mine handled it fine.

So tell me @mguzzy, when your heater is on the slab, where will it tickle you?
Oh DUUUUDE.. what a great set up line for a response that will get me banned from the whole interweb, not just TFP! um um um... Lets just say I will see your Hannibal and I'll raise you a Dexter, fava beans always repeated on me.

Joking aside, I believe that the heat-pump type has refrigerant and delicate internal tubing. So it's the same reason you wouldn't want to tip a refrigerator, because that's basically what it is, except in reverse. My old Ray-Pak could probably fall off the back of a truck while in motion and it would still work.
I think that's correct. Moved a fridge from home depot on its side although was told to stand it upright. Well fridge would not work when I plugged it in so repairman replaced compressor under warranty. He said u laid it down when u transported it home didn't you as he smiled

Yeah I understand I'm just worried this heater was $3800
