Recent DIY repair of cracked elbow on spa return line, described here. Had to saw out section of pool decking to access. Below is pic of pool & decking area, a sunken area surrounded by a couple courses of adobe brick. On the decking closeup it appears the surface has random "divots" for lack of a better term. The entire deck has this appearance. This appears to be an intentional finish, perhaps to improve traction, or is it a symptom of aging/poor finish? Either way I need to replicate it on the replaced section.

That is a "salt" finish. It is where they throw rock salt on the wet concrete to make those divots.

I agree with Kim plus, it also appears that the decking has a color, an not just concrete grey.
