Above ground, round 27ft pool. Do y’all tighten the winter pool cover down or do you let it rest on the water with an air pillow?

Yes they do.
This is one of those things that has a few ways to do it and strong opinions for each way. Nobody is wrong.
We let it rest on the water without a pillow. What happens is the cover fills with snow and becomes a solid ice block. In the spring, it is a mess but we pump out the extra water when the snow thaws. The pillows only work to allow less water to accumulate in the cover.
