Adding water while pool is ice? vinyl liner

Hi guys,
So i've run into my first problem. i've got an AGP, steel sided hybrid. Vinyl liner of course. I had the water maybe 6" below the inlet when i put the pillow in and the cover on. Usually no issues throughout winter, but this year i think there've been enough freeze/thaws that extra water has made its way thru the cover, to the point that the cover with all the extra ice on it is sunk in much lower, putting a lot of pressure on the walls now. The bungee cords that hold it to the deck are maxed out. I've cut some of the cords allowing the cover to fall down in the pool, so that the weight wont buckle the wall. Can I add water under the cover to bring the level up and releave the pressure the cover is putting on the other walls, or will that cause the ice to move around in the pool and cut the liner? My other choice is to just cut the remaining cords and let the cover fall in. I would just be doing a lot more leave cleanup comp spring.
Appreciate any advice you all have to offer.

Welcome to TFP.

Cut the cords and let the cover settle on the ice and water.

Cleanup in the spring is preferable to a liner torn by ice moving.

Although letting the cover fall in can also cause the ice to shift in the pool.

Thank you for the welcome and for the advise. That is exactly what i'll do. after finding some similar posts, I'd rather have the worst case scenario be a cut liner than a buckled wall. I did feel around the inside edge of the pool and edge of the ice is about 3" thick and smooth so chances of it damaging the liner seem to be minimal up to this point. Thanks again!
