Pool cover leaked during storm

Winterize our pool and cover every year and we had a good storm that dumped 3" of rain and had 35+ mph winds with higher gusts. The cover never came off but due to the wind getting underneath it got beat up pretty good and the water that had accumulated prior along with the rain water leaked through the cover. Without removing the cover I peeked in and the water is green. My question is to leave as is till we open in late May or remove the cover and leave as is or? Not comfortable draining completely as if we get more wind which is possible it would blow away. Pool was installed last May as a replacement to out previous Intex which was up for 3 years.
Looking for suggestions.

I'd leave things alone until you are ready to open and get the system running again. At that point, prepare to do a SLAM Process to kill that algae.

Definitely do not drain. Leave it alone until you open, but I’d open before late May. You should open when the water is 60 degF. I’m assuming that will happen well before May.
