Chicago burbs
the rope broke on one side of my auto cover. The pool company says I have to replace tracks pulleys and cover to fix this.

Does that sound right? Is there a diy video on fixing the rope without replacing everything.

It broke because water level was too low and I didn’t realize it.

At first it sounds like a ripoff, but if your cover sagged so much that a rope broke, it may truly be best to replace everything. My pool cover company also likes to replace everything, but sometimes will just replace symmetrical parts, e.g., if a pulley breaks, they'll replace the one on the opposite side as well.

Seven years is a pretty good life for an auto-cover. I don't think I've ever had one last that long.
