Pool color, can someone explain this?

I have a light blue pebble. However, before doing a water change it looked more 'teal' color. I drained and refilled the pool and it then had a more blue color - nice. BUT, as soon as I added salt, it went back to more of a teal color. These changes are subtle but clearly noticeable. Before adding salt, I added calcium, stabilizer, and tetraborate. It still looked more bluish until adding salt. Can one of you chemical jockeys explain this or am I nuts.

What is the ph, TA and CH of your fill water?

Why did you add borax?

Saltwater has a higher density and refractive index than fresh water. Salt also adds impurities to the pool water. All of these factors can affect the perceived color of the pool water. I can confirm that I have seen this effect in my own pool as well - freshly filled pool water seems more blue and clear then, when chemicals are added like salt, CYA and borates, the water becomes more teal. It’s totally normal.
