It was suggested that I start a new thread. I was reading other like threads about water vacuums that shut off for no apparent reason. My subject machine shuts off after 7 seconds. I read about others that shut off after 2.5 minutes, others 10 min, etc. The problem is not the power supply because when I did the upside-down test it worked just fine. It's when I put the machine in the water and then turn it on. Again, after 7 seconds the power supply loses power. I have contact Maytronics and still awaiting reply but after reading some threads I guess they may not want to respond. This seems like it should be an easy fix. Does anyone have suggestions. Thanks. BTW this is my first post.

What do you mean the "upside down test" ?

If you test it out of water you need to put it up on a block so the treads are off the ground (cut 2x4 works) and then open the lid and remove the filter assembly. Then power it one and let it do the self test.

If you don't hear the impeller motor go through three distinctly different speeds (the motor should make a high pitched sound with three different frequencies as the motor transitions from low/med/high speed) then the impeller motor is likely going bad. Watch the treads while the drive motor is going through its forward/reverse test. If you see the treads pulling away from the drive wheel and skipping, that indicates the drive wheel bushings are no longer true and the wheel and bushings need replacement.

You can pass the self-test out of water and still have it fail in water because the load on the motors is different. If the electronics detects too high off a load to drive and move the robot, it will shut down. Failing in water like that is usually a sign that the motor assembly is starting to go bad.

Following… I’m very unhappy with my Dolphin, I have what is 99% certainly a failure in the cable (I can see where water enters) and they would only cover it under warranty if I sent the whole unit back, which is a cost of over $100 in postage that they would not pay for, rather than just sending me a new cable.
