I just replaced the backup valve due to it spraying all the time. Found it to have a crack in it. Now with new valve the pressure relief valve is moving a ton of water.
AND, the polaris runs to the deep end and stays there. Seems I have too much discharge pressure from my pump.
Prior to replacing the backup valve, I had some water escaping from the pressure relief. The cleaner would always find its way to a corner near the front of the pool and get stuck permanently.
I cleaned the filter a few days ago on the Polaris. Any thoughts? Replace the restrictor disk?
Thanks,
James

Anyone have similar experience or advice? Thanks.

Shouldn't really be the restrictor disk. So it goes to the deep end of the pool and never travels back up to the shallow side? Does the reversing valve ever activate (e.g. do you see the Polaris get picked up and moved somewhere else when the reverser activates)? Are you sure the reversing valve was installed in the correct orientation?

Correct. It goes to the deep, and never returns. In fact, it doesn't even move around the deep end. It is essentially on a tight rope. This is why I think the pressure is too much. The spray direction on the backup valve is pointing towards the cleaner.

Something sounds plugged up somewhere between the port in the pool and the Polaris itself. Have you personally witnessed the reversing valve actually working? Is it a legit Polaris part, or one of the generic replacements? I would disconnect everything on the hose after the reversing valve and make sure there is significant flow. It almost sounds to me like the reversing valve is "clogged".

Try finding the manual and follow the directions specifically for the float locations on the tubing and swivel joint placement. It makes a big difference. Also angle of the jet coming out the back.
Look at the rotation speed of the wheels. It almost sounds like the wheels may not be turning enough to keep the Polaris moving. Otherwise, it should keep going and be able to find its way out of the deep end.
