I know this question is asked alot, but each pool is different. I am building my own 18x44 pool and need advice on my plumbing plans. I am reaching out in hopes that some that know way more than me could weigh in.

For starters, I am trying to keep things simple in terms of water features and materials. I know the diagram is a bit busy but please take a look and give your thoughts! Any feedback is much appreciated.

Welcome to TFP.

Have you ever been in a pool with deck jets?

They are noisy when running to where you cannot talk around the pool.

They are often not run after the first year when the novelty wears off.

And after a few years they are often broken or leaking and hard to fix.

Which way are the prevailing winds at the pool site?

You want the winds into the skimmers. The winds have more effect on the direction surface debris flows then the returns do.

Do yourself a favor and get the S-310 with the side mount valve or the S-310T with the top mount. For a pool your size and using a VSP it is the better option.
Also, it is better to go with the TriStar 950 (2.7THP) over the 900 (1.85THP). It can be run slower and move the same amount of water for less energy usage. Since this is a new build, get the pain (cost) over with now and enjoy the long-term benefits.

In terms of plumbing, I would upsize the skimmer pipes to 2.5". Main drain is optional (opportunity for simplicity). What are the black arrows for "sunledge" and "stairs"?

Other things to consider:
1. Depths?
2. I would reposition the shelf/stairs to create a swim lane along the long axis of the pool.
3. I would recommend a large cartridge filter.
4. The proposed SWCG is barely adequate. You'd be better served by a unit that is rated for 60k (CircuPool or Pentair).
5. Heater?

I was wondering about this earlier today before reading this! Great info, thanks!!

1. 40" shallow 96" deep end
2. With regard to the SWCG- the pool will have an auto cover and I've read that those pools struggle with high chlorine levels so this lead me to believe the hayward would be adequate, but I wouldn't be posing this question if i were an expert so I appreciate the advice.

40" shallow
That's quite shallow. I'd recommend 48" for your shallow end.

The cover will help. If anything, you'll struggle to produce enough chlorine. You can always dial back the FC production. Do you have a rough volume estimate?
