I have decided to close my pool this fall and was looking for some clarification regarding winterization of my hayward 350lb sand filter.
Do you need to cover/plug holes where sight glass and pressure gauge were or do you leave them open over winter?
Thanks in advance!

Look through the closing guide but you need to drain the filter of all the water, blow out any pipes attached to it and cover any holes so animals/insects don’t enter over the winter.

Thanks! I had everything winterized already and the bottom plug removed from the sand filter just a couple days ago but thought to myself about insects or anything blowing around that could get in the exposed holes.
Never saw anything specific regarding those openings in my searches so figured it wasn't a major concern

You can put a ziplock bag over the opening and wrap some tape around to keep it there.
