Plugging thru the liner return ports intex pool

New member hi everyone! I have 4 x 16 Intex pool. Last year I added sand filter and Hayward thru the wall skimmer. With the new skimmer I would like to plug the old return ports that go thru the liner. Last year I just connected the two with hose. The plugs I got with the pool leak into the hose. I am going to leave the pool up over the winter this year and need a better solution for plugging these ports.

Welcome to TFP! Have you tried some winterizing or expandable pool plugs? Just doa quick Google search or hit Amazon for those and you'll see a bunch of sizes and types. Maybe one of those will do the trick. That or maybe split-off some PVC with a valve to have an extra return for added circulation, a fountain sprayer, or something else?
