This is what I’ve done since opening. Im Not sure if I keep slaming. Now TA is high. What am I doing wrong. I’ve done the additions as recommended the las 2 days. I haven’t done anything today. Thanks. I use the TF test kit and pool math app and try to do everything it recommends.

Amy, thank you for using the Poolmath tool. :goodjob: Here are my thoughts:
- Are you still in SLAM mode? If so, that's all that matters right now. Don't bother with any other tests but FC. When the water is clear, check the CC and get ready to do the Overnight Chlorine Loss Test.
- (FYI) It looks like you increased your CYA to 70 in conjunction with, or before starting the SLAM right? It would've been better to leave the CYA at about 30 so you could use less bleach. But it just means you have to maintain a higher FC SLAM level of 28 until you pass all 3 SLAM criteria. No biggie.
- TA (not a priority right now). But in your region is often high. Not sure why it went up if you didn't add baking soda or perhaps had a testing error. But after the SLAM is complete, the TA will get lower with consistent use of muriatic acid. When you try to lower TA, remember after you add acid and lower the pH to 7.2, aerate the water. Once the pH hits about 7.8, hit it again with the acid - repeat as necessary.
- Again, TA is not a priority at the moment because you are in the SLAM and your water is still chilly. So there's no rush to lower it.

hope that helps.

How new are your testing reagents?

TA doesn't jump 90 points spontaneously. Either 30 pounds of baking soda made it in to the pool by accident, or there is a testing error. If you are working with new testing supplies then that is probably the cause. TFTestkits gets such new products that the bottles sometimes carry a static charge from manufacturing. This goes away with time, but initially can cause the drops to jump away from the bottle before fully forming, leading to artificially high readings. This has been seen to happen most with the TA test.

Try the TA test again but this time wipe the tip of the bottle with a cloth or tissue to dissipate the static charge and see if that doesn't give you a lower number. If it does, go with that and chalk up the previous results to error.
