Please help me understand how to backwash my DE filter.

When filtering water PSI averages 25, in an attempt to lower it i want to backwash and clear the filters. All the youtube tutorials show turning the multiport valve to back wash. I don't seem to have on in this system I inherited. Any clues?

It would be the port that isn’t plumbed into heater or pump. There should be 3 ports at the bottom. If it’s not 1.5” you may have plumb a reducer on it. Most common backwash hose fits over 1.5” pipe.

This is a sightglass (Red Arrow --->), which indicates that it is probably the waste line.

It looks like it was disconnected for some reason.

Those backwash valves never work properly and you should just take it apart and clean it properly.

Why do you have a Jandy manual?

You probably need to reduce the RPM unless you need it for heating.

Wow everyone here is amazing, thank you so much for identifying the model. I have no clue why it came with a Jandy manual!
The Jandy manual is possibly from the old original filter.
As @JamesW recommended, take the filter apart and clean it properly.

I can attest to these backwash valves never really working properly. My neighbor called me to help him last week when his Pentair series 4000 backwash valve wouldn't work. He said the last two times he backwashed, the valve handle was very difficult to turn. He now knows how to clean the filter by taking the filter apart.

Thank you, I'll skip the backwash and manually clean!
