Please help interpret pH test

7.5 seems pretty close.

Look at it this way. The result is too light to be 8.2 and too dark to be 6.8. I think you are in the safe range. However, photos may not be representing the true color.

IMO, 7.2 marked on the container is orange-ish and 7.5 on the container starts picking up pink tones. The color of your water, IMO, looks to have more orange-ish tones. Not the orange of 7.2 but perhaps 7.3/7.4. And I say that because I don't think it exactly has pink tones just yet (which would put it at 7.5+). But this is just how me and my monitor are seeing those colors. LOL

Apparently I need to go to the optometrist. But more importantly I forgot something .....

Glyates, WELCOME TO TFP! :wave::wave::wave:

Next time, try some different backgrounds with that test. Maybe white paper, beige, the sky, etc. Some things work better than others for everyone.

the colors going from low pH to high pH are

yellow 6.8 and lower

yellow orange 7.0

orange 7.2

orange red 7.4-7.5

red 7.6-7.8

red violet 8.0

violet 8.2 and higher

Now, what is your interpretation of the pic?

Ok, I’m willing to lower my vote to about 7.3, but that is my last offer!

(and the shoes are pink and white)

Add to the fun that we’re all viewing on different types of screens, which affects how colors are perceived. I vote for 7.4. Not orange but definitely approaching the rose color of 7.8. In my pool I'd be happy with it but remain watchful.

I'm thinking 7.3-7.4 -- but looking at a pic on a computer, phone, tablet the colors can look different than in person.

Do the test again, but only add 4 drops of the reagent (instead of 5). This may better help distinguish the hue.

I wouldn’t waste the reagent. Even with all our interpretations, what we do know is that ph is in acceptable range!
