Please help 3 week old pool and its green but the numbers look good.

So it's been 18 days since your last report where you said that the pool was clearing but the photo looked cloudy green to me. Since that time you would have received your Culator and weren't going to use Metal Magic until that arrived. So what happened? Did you use either of these? If you used CuLator and you think it didn't work then you should contact the company for assistance since sometimes they have special procedures to use.

Is the water still cloudy and is now a clear green? Since you last used DE in the filter, the pressure went up, so did you add more DE after backwashing? If the water remains cloudy after using DE in your sand filter (adding more DE every time you backwash), then you've got a problem in your filter (maybe channeling?) or circulation and should look at it to make sure the sand isn't clumped.

I'm sorry that no one responded after your last post, but with the high traffic on this site you sometimes need to post again to get attention and in any event could provide further details with what you are doing and what is happening with the pool.

So what do you want to do now? Since you have concluded that TFPC does not work then do you want us to stop responding?

After passing oclt, I let the fc drift down to 3, than I poured in 32oz of metal magic and used the curolator metal remover in the pump filter. This caused the pool to turn a cloudy mostly blue (slightly green) color. It was the best color e had gotten since the first time we used metal out. But like clock work each day that passes the water turned more green.

I don't know what is what anymore, I don't know what is clear or what is cloudy, I know the pool looks terrible and it's getting to the point I wish I hadn't spent the money installing it. I could shock it again for another 2 weeks but will that actually do anything, I certainly have my doubts. I only used de a few times in the filter, I should start using it again and I may start again tomorrow.

Here are my test results that I'm beginning to think are pointless

Fc 10
CH 125
TA 90
CYA 20
Ph 7.5

Pool is still green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TFPC DOES NOT WORK
That's a rather intemperate statement. Perhaps it does not work for you but it certainly works for thousands of others and will continue to do so.

There's no other advice we can give you other than TFPC.....it's all we know......we are completely out of ideas.

If you regularly brushed the pool and ran the pump/filtration and added DE to the filter after every backwash, the pool should have become more clear and less cloudy. If not, then you've most likely got a problem with your filter. You should check that fist to make sure the sand isn't clumped or that the filter is getting bypassed anywhere (multi-way valve in wrong position or leaking).

With your low CYA level (20 ppm) and higher FC level (10 ppm) that oxidizes the Metal Magic product so re-releases metal back into the water. Since you clearly don't have algae at this FC/CYA level, you shouldn't have that ratio be so high. You should probably get your CYA up to at least 30 ppm so that the chlorine isn't burned off from sunlight and you can lower your FC down more. If you lose too much during the day from sunlight, then bump your CYA up to 40 or 50 ppm. Make sure the FC doesn't drop below 7.5% of the CYA level, but don't have it be as high as you have now.

Once you get your FC/CYA ratio lower, you should find that the Metal Magic holds better and only needs maintenance doses once a week. As for the CuLator, call the company and tell them you are using their product and are not seeing improvement -- they can have you check the bag to make sure it is working and may have other advice which you can share with us.

Once you've verified that your filter and its sand are OK, then we can try other clearing methods, but really if the DE in the sand filter isn't clearing the pool, then I think you've got a filtration problem and whatever non-standard techniques we have you do won't necessarily make things better (i.e. use of GLB Clear Blue or BioGuard Polysheen Blue clarifier or use of OMNI Liquid Floc Plus or BioGuard PowerFloc flocculant).
