Good afternoon all,
So upon feeling my walls they feel a bit slippery to the touch and when I pass my hand over them with some force there’s this powdery dust that comes off. I’ve been brushing everyday since opening so I was a bit puzzled and I thought algae? But I then took my smaller all metal brush and passed it over one section and all this white dust comes off the plaster. It continues to come off and doesn’t stop either. Is this normal just dusting coming off the plaster? It’s 9 years old I thought that eventually stops?

Keep on brushing so the dust stays suspended in your water and can be filtered out. The dust will try to deposit back on the pool surfaces if the water is still.

Hard to say what that dust is on a 9 year pool. It may just be deposits on the pool wall from the pool being closed. See if it is filtered out with a few weeks of your filter running.

What is your pump runtime? How much time do you run your filter daily?

I’m currently still slamming. Since April 25th. I run the filter 24/7. Do I continue with the metal brush vs the nylon? The Nylon doesn’t Kick that dust up when I brush with it.

The dust tends to redeposit on the surfaces before it can be filtered.

You may filter 30% of the dust a day and 70% gets redeposited.
