pitting inground pool

purchased a home in 2014 with an inground chlorine pool 12k gallons. live on the west coast of central florida
we have never resurfaced our pool and i am getting this pitting that started like mold so i used a 2 step algaecide and it went away but then i had a severe knee injury and could not keep up with maintenance as much. anyways now where the mold started in a few areas it is pitted now and expanding in patches.
my question is before i resurface "which i cannot afford to right now" is there an underwater epoxy that i can apply or can it last another 6 months or so?
i am extremely handy

also what might have caused this? is it age along with not keeping up the balance every week for a few months?

when i 1st got a pool i tried the drip kit that is sold in pool stores but water was not looking right.
anyways when the water is tested at a pool store i never got it to match and they were right every time.
is there a new tester nowadays that is more accurate for chlorine pool homeowners?

In our experience Pool Store testing is rarely accurate.

We recommend you get the Taylor K-2006C or TFT Test Kits . TFT is a better value.

You need a good test kit to deal with the problems below.

Looks like algae of some type.

You need your own test kit as discussed above.
