I'm trying to step up my pool party game this year - does anyone have any great cocktails that can be made in larger quantities for a party? We don't have big drinking families but having a cocktail available would be nice without having to make individual drinks.

You can almost never go wrong with a large batch of Sangria or Jungle Juice of some type. Top it off with a mini umbrella and everyone's happy. With a bit of practice, you can create a fabulous tasting product that is sneaky-good by disguising the alcohol, yet potent enough to promote numerous cannonballs and playing that that game you do by placing your forehead on a baseball bat and spinning around then trying to run. DISCLAIMER - TFP is not responsible for unaccounted swimwear in the pool. :)

Make sure to have a video camera nearby.

Great thread! I'll be following this one!!!

I made a pitcher of this for a Summer party last year. People loved it.

This is for one drink (obviously)
BAHAMA MAMA
1⁄2 fluid ounce rum
1⁄2 fluid ounce coconut rum
1⁄2 fluid ounce grenadine
1 fluid ounce orange juice
1 fluid ounce pineapple juice
1 cup crushed ice

Oh that sounds good! So this might be dumb or just a matter of math but how do you convert to pitcher size serving?

I don't know if this drink has another name, but I call it Prescription Lemonade. It's always a hit and is pretty easy to make.

Prescription Lemonade

- 1 can frozen concentrated lemonade (I prefer Minute Made)
- 4 tablespoons pureed frozen strawberries (the kind with sugar already added)
- 8 ounces pineapple juice
- White rum (I don't measure the rum, I just do it by feel/taste)

- Make the lemonade following the directions on the package
- Add the other ingredients
- Serve over ice
- Repeat as necessary

You can also make a kid's version by omitting the rum. (I call it OTC Lemonade to carry on with the theme).

I swear by these beer margaritas. This recipe is STRONG so experiment with the amount of soda you add. I generally end up with 1 liter of soda per batch. (These go fast, so I usually make up four batches at once and serve out of a big glass container with a spigot.)

  • 12 oz frozen limeade concentrate (set it out for a few minutes so it gets slushy)
12 oz of your favorite tequila
12 oz of your favorite Mexican beer
    12 oz 7-up

Just don't have too many and decide the next batch should be made frozen. All of that carbonation and your blender will not get along.

This recipe is similar to my 10-gallon midsummer beergarita party except i use 6 oz triple sec per 12 oz tequila and NO soda at all but serve in pitchers half filled with ice. You can scale up the ratio to a 10 gallon serving cooler, using half frozen lemonade and half frozen lime aid. Then dispense into pitchers. These are always a hit ;)

I don’t like beer unfortunately. It might be just fine without though!
