I need some engineering help please. I've spent hours researching this subject and, despite how interesting learning about hydraulics might be, I really need a faster solution. If anyone can help us cut to the chase and get this done right, I'd be very appreciative.
Here's the current set up: We have a 20' round AGP. It has two suction ports and one discharge port. I believe the suction ports are 1.25". After the flimsy filter pump that came with the pool failed - after only a couple of weeks - we replaced it with a same sized Intex pump which also failed quickly. (lightening DOES strike twice in the same place). We, probably erroneously, over-killed the next filter pump by getting a Hayward W3CC15093S XStream Above-Ground Pool Filter Pump System, 1.5 HP. But it's what we have so we need to make it work. What I would love help on is a detailed plumbing design that will give my pump the best flow possible. We plan to enlarge the suction holes in the pool but - is 1-1/2" big enough? What size hoses/pipes? We like the idea of PVC. What fittings do i need? What valves should we add? We want to do this re-plumbing right the first time and I just can't seem to find the combination of information to help me. Maybe someone can map it out for me (please?). This is the pic of what we currently have. The two hoses coming from the pool are what came with the pool. The larger suction line and the return line are what came with the pump. Thanks to anyone who can help.
