Hello all! First post/new to pools!

We just had our pool installed recently and I'm doing my best to get up to speed on chemical care. One reading that came from the Leslie test in store (just to run as a base against my first testing experience) is they add the phosphate count (which was 300 PPM two days ago). I know that this is not a good thing (and plan to add the Phosfree) in the pool but my Taylor kit doesn't come with the testing for it.

Long story short, I'm torn between getting the Natural Chemistry 00080 Phosphate test kit (strips) and the Taylor Phosphate Test kit (drops). Both around $30 on Amazon but it's not so much cost but accuracy I care about. Granted testing will be seldom but still.

Appreciate any feedback.

Welcome!

Phosphate removers are just another profit center for the pool store.

If you maintain high enough chlorine to keep the pool sanitary, you automatically have enough to keep algae at bay, so it doesn't matter if or what your phosphate level is.

I've never even had my phosphates tested and I'm 9 years without a green pool.

Try the search box up above(in the dark blue band) for phosphates and limit the search to titles only. You'll get an education.
