Phosphates out of control

Hello all.
I've had my pool open now for 3 weeks. When I first opened it the water had mild cloudiness but started to clear up pretty quick. After a few days I took my first water sample in for testing and the phosphates were at 470. Ph and alc were normal. Salt and stabilizer were low but I hadn't added any yet. I decided since the phosphates were getting to the top end I'd treat the filter with phosphate remover and add a clarifier to the water as per the instructions on the bottle. At the same time I added 3kg of stabilizer and 120lb of salt. After testing yesterday my phosphates are now at 3850. Water is 74F Cristal clear. FC is 1.3, Ph is 7.2, alc is 110, cya is 28 and salt is 2800ppm. Is there any reason my phosphates would be that high with clear water and no algea? They ran the test twice. Thanks a lot for your help!

Phosphates are not relevant to proper pool water management. I know you will have to think about that for a minute but you should drop ALL connection with the pool store, get your own test kit, and learn from this forum how to manage your pool.

Your post indicates that the need to control phosphates are a given.......it isn't. You must un-think that and get your mind wrapped around the hard fact that chlorine is what is needed in your pool. Chlorine and 4 other parameters are what you need to test for and this forum will teach you to understand why.

Please read "The "ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry" up in Pool School and then please make the break from the bogus Pool Store and learn to manage your own chemistry.
 
An expert will probably chime in soon. In the mean time add your pool information to your signature, it will help them help you.
Pool stores are notorious for inaccurate, inconsistent testing causing folks to chase their tails throwing unnecessary chemicals in their pool. They won't be able to give much advice until you have a proper test kit. I got mine at tftestkits.net

Also they dont worry too much about phosphates, maintaining proper CL levels per cya level prevents algae.

Review in pool school, it will help you a lot.
