I had a green pool at opening, shocked it, turned milky. Followed SLAM guidelines.

Cya- 30
Chlorine 8
CC- 0
Alkalinity - 70
Ph- 7.6
I tested this with my Taylor kit. I took a sample to pool store to see why it’s still cloudy.

Calcium hardness- 39 ( I don’t balance this)
Phosphate- 233 ??
Should I do something for phosphate? Thanks

With a CYA of 30, it's critical for you to try and maintain the SLAM FC level of "12". Do that and follow the SLAM protocol linked above and you'll see changes for the better. Definitely stay out of the pool store unless you want bad advice, poor testing, or wish to throw money down the drain. Trust YOUR testing. :goodjob:

I did the slam protocol for several days already- and it did get rid of the combined chlorine I had present! I have to slam until it’s clear? Kids want to swim! I’ve never had this hard of a time. Thank you!

233 is nothing for phosphates. Just because it is a larger number then other tests does not mean it is a problem.

Look closely and you will see that phosphates are measured in PPB (parts per BILLION) while all other tests are measured in PPM (parts per MILLION). Until phosphates get over 10,000 it is not large and even then not a problem.
