Yes, as in my experience, Metal Free hasn’t shown to be effective for many posters as it’s not HEDP.

Does anyone know if this treatment would damage a Dolphin M500? The instructions for STAINfree say that after letting the ascorbic acid sit overnight, I should add the METALfree (I'll be adding the Purple Stuff instead) and then vacuum the pool. I'm wondering if the ascorbic acid or initial dose of Purple Stuff is okay with the cleaner in the water. I also have a Polaris pressure cleaner that I could use instead of the Dolphin if that is less likely to be damaged.

Highly unlikely to cause any damage. It’s a very mild acid (AA). Sequestrant generally is protective of equipment at normal levels.
