I started the slam last week, tested my water and brought my pH down to 7.2.
Everything went well didn’t really swim too much over the past week. my free chlorine level tested today was right at 5. My ph looked cherry red. Thinking my ph some how got really high in a week I added 48 Oz of acid. Tested water about 2 hours later and now ph is orange?

Never had this happen before and not sure what my PH is.

Your pH went from high end to low end. I would say your pH is 7.0-7.2, Should be fine.

What is your TA?

You sure your FC is 5? That was a FAS/DPD test?

TA is 50. Just added 4lbs of increaser to bring it to 70.
Yes my FC was 5. Using a taylor test kit.

FC 5
Alk 50
CYA 70
PH ??
Salt 3000

I would have left it at 50 and let your TA come up naturally.

In the future don't do such big changes in your pH in a single dose. Do 2 or 3 doses with testing in between.

Wait a day or two and let your pH and TA settle down from all the chemicals and retest.

Both the OTO & FAS/DPD in the TF-100 kit are made by Taylor. So saying Taylor doesn't narrow it down. I'm pretty sure AJW wanted to make sure you used the FAS/DPD. I've seen a lot of posts where people say they used the drop test. They both use drops so it leaves me uncertain. Sorry for my mini-rant!

Its the FAS/DPD test. Add a small spoon of white powder, watch it turn pink, then add drops until it clears and / by 2 to get your FC ;)
